Mark Campbell, "Ode to the Coronation", (06 May 2023)
On this auspicious occasion of the coronation of "Their Majesties" Charles Philip Arthur George and Camilla Rosemary, TMR is delighted to present an "Ode to the Coronation" by our good friend and priceless contributor to the podcast Mark Campbell. Should any listeners in the UK (or Commonwealth, I suppose) have any qualms about about saying —— "I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God" —— when "invited" by the Archbishop of Canterbury, we offer the choice words below as a fitting substitute.
Ode to the Coronation
by Mark Campbell
King Charles the Third
Sings charms for Thora Hird
Trims gnarled poorer birds
Grins upon bearded agora curls
Slimming sweary fedora furls
Winning sweaty fen-loving fronds
Winsome warty feng shui
When summer's wings fly by
Blending sooner, lest he cries
Friending schooners and Benny Shaw
Building bath tubs in Lahore
King Charles the Third!
